After the recent influx of roughly 72,000 illegal migrants from neighboring Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, the Meloni administration in Italy imposed strict border controls on travelers arriving from Spain. Under the immigration-friendly leadership of socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Spain has now retaliated by imposing border checks on travelers arriving from Italy until September 7. This tit-for-tat escalation is testing the unity of the European Union and straining the principles of the Schengen Area, which generally allows free movement of people among participating countries.
On the Iran War topic, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine is warning that escalation carries a high risk and that our inventory in key weapons systems is critically low.
