Earlier today in the Oval Office, President Trump announced that Mesabi Metallics will invest $15 billion to build an Iowa-based steel plant, the largest in American history. The plant will begin producing military-grade steel by 2030 and create 1,700 permanent jobs in its community. President Trump has aggressively pursued rebuilding the defense industrial base, and this upcoming plant will play an important role in the future.
Also earlier today, SpaceX’s Starship - the largest rocket in the world - finally achieved orbit after its 14th attempt. Because Starship’s capacity is roughly twenty times that of the Falcon 9, successful Starship launches will pave the way for global internet, space-based data centers, and much improved launch economics.
Oil prices have risen to their highest level in nearly 5 years, since President Trump rejected an Iranian offer to open the Strait of Hormuz. Under the Iranian deal, President Trump would end the blockade of Iranian imports and would provide sanction relief in exchange for opening the Strait of Hormuz. As of this writing, no deal has been made.
