Defeat Looms
The 2026 midterm elections are this Tuesday, and Democrats will likely retake the House and possibly the Senate. Given President Trump's amazing first year in office, the idea that the Senate could be in play was unthinkable. But President Trump was elected to deliver on 3-4 crucial promises he made throughout his campaign, and failing to deliver would hurt his presidency and the country. We are just a few days away from the Democrats grinding the Trump administration to a halt, and that is a true tragedy.
It didn’t have to end up like this:
President Trump, to his credit, assembled the greatest Republican coalition since Ronald Reagan, which included libertarians, nationalist-populists, neoconservatives, independents, and the Tech Right. He also made historic gains with African Americans, Hispanics, the youth, and anti-war Muslims. His coalition included both poor and rich, young and old, establishment (to a degree) and anti-establishment. At his 2025 Inauguration, President Trump was unstoppable.
As this Substack has detailed many times over the last 16 months, President Trump's primary issue was lowering inflation and increasing overall affordability. Before the Iran War, inflation was decreasing, mortgage rates were just under 6%, and diesel was roughly $3.70 a gallon. Now, inflation is 3.7%, mortgage rates are above 7%, and diesel is above $6 a gallon. Put plainly, this is a disaster, both economically and electorally.
Another theme this Substack has hammered home is the dire need for deep state accountability. In one of my prior posts - Where Are The Arrests - this Substack highlighted the many areas where President Trump’s DOJ needed to prosecute criminals, such as BLM and antifa rioters and high-level deep state criminals like John Brennan. Bringing justice to the traitorous elite in the intelligence agencies and our corrupted political parties was critical to restoring public trust in the Justice Department. And of course, the Trump Administration’s handling of the Epstein situation was an abysmal and demoralizing failure.
Beyond the economic pain the Iran War and the Russia-Ukraine War have inflicted, many of President Trump’s base feel betrayed. The president pledged to end the Russia-Ukraine War immediately and also stated, on record, that “no new wars” would be his policy. Many of the young people who believed in President Trump count this as a complete betrayal of his word and of the working class he claimed to champion.
The end of DOGE and President Trump’s cordial relationship with Elon Musk was another dagger to our side, as the world’s greatest innovator and capitalist was making real progress through our institutions before some cabinet members and members of Congress obstructed DOGE’s progress.
It’s been my pride since this Substack’s inception to highlight many areas where President Trump and his administration have done exceptionally well. And many of his policies (AI, energy, manufacturing, etc.) will positively affect this country in the coming decade, and he will deserve enormous credit. But on the critical issues HE HAD TO GET RIGHT, President Trump failed. The Iran War is a betrayal of his governing philosophy and of his working-class base, and the Epstein fiasco was nearly unforgivable. So we are at the point where MAGA and his presidency will begin to fade as the demonic radical left assumes power. And to a 3-time die-hard Trump voter and MAGA supporter, I remain flabbergasted and demoralized. It didn’t have to end this way.
