Weekly Wisdom | The Great Trump Reset

Immediate Action is Required

As of this writing, there is a tenuous ceasefire between Iran and the United States. While this represents progress, we must be sober about the possibility that this war continues on. Israel doesn’t trust Iran, and Iran is learning they have a lot of leverage. Unfortunately, the American people are paying the price: gas prices are above $4 a gallon, inflation is near 3%, and the economy grew at a miserable .5% in the 4th quarter of 2025. With collapsing poll numbers, the Iran War is political kryptonite to President Trump and Republicans. Assuming President Trump can end this war, immediate actions need to be taken to shore up the base and win back independents.

A list of helpful steps to promptly implement is below:

  1. Send Vice President Vance to be interviewed by both the major networks and prominent podcasters, where young men and independents often get their news. VP Vance could more effectively win back over the anti-war voices that were part of the MAGA coalition. Why? As reporting has shown, he was the most anti-war member of the Trump Cabinet during deliberations about the Iran War.

  2. President Trump’s approval is falling with even the working class and blue collar workers, the foundation of his base. As the economic data above showed, the working class is getting crushed, which will lead to Democratic Party gains. And most Americans feel President Trump isn’t sufficiently focused on domestic issues. The solution is to send President Trump to factories around the country until the midterm elections. The voters need to see President Trump fully engaged with domestic issues again. In politics, optics are as important as reality.

  3. Along the same lines, President Trump needs to “clean up” his current gilded image by taking fewer trips to Mar-A-Lago, having less photo ops with billionaires, and hiring advocates for the working class to join his Cabinet. Firing Secretary Lutnick would be a good start!

  4. This blog has previously argued in favor of formally creating an “affordability council.” An official council that briefs the press and educates the population about President Trump’s initiatives would show the American people that the administration is working diligently on making life more affordable for them.

  5. Everyone is tired of the corruption in our institutions, whether it is on Wall Street or the government. It is imperative that some high profile arrests be made to show voters that eliminating fraud and prosecuting crimes is a high administration priority. And doing this is an 80-20 issue.

At this stage, the recommendations above are hopeful wishes. The reality is that we are still very much in this war, and it could go sideways at any point. Let us pray that a reasonable and enforceable compromise can be made among Israel, Iran, and the United States. And if it does, it’s my sincere hope that the Trump administration implement the pivot to domestic issues without delay.
