A Course Correction is Needed
A remarkable fact about President Trump’s 2024 victory was the unique coalition he brought together: MAGA voters, independents, young men, hispanics, MAHA adherents, and libertarians. Since the war with Iran started, President Trump’s numbers among all of these groups, MAGA excluded, have significantly declined. An immediate course correction is needed by the Trump administration or we are headed to a Democratic disaster.
Consider the following:
Nationwide, gas prices are approaching $4 a gallon, mortgage rates are climbing once again, and the job market is stagnant. The war with Iran coupled with mediocre jobs numbers is fueling fears that stagflation could be around the corner.
The latest Fox News poll shows a 59% disapproval rating for President Trump, the highest percentage of either of his two terms. Among independents, the disapproval rating is a staggering 75%. Whether we MAGA supporters agree or not, independents ultimately decide election outcomes.
Young men are souring on President Trump, as they want more focus on domestic issues and want to see deep state criminals held accountable. YouGov found that President Trump now has a net approval of -19 among men under the age of 45. Without men showing up, Republicans are doomed.
The newly-released CBS News poll shows 60% of Americans believe the Trump administration is focusing too little on U.S. domestic priorities. President Trump and his team have done a tremendous amount for the good of the American people, but it doesn’t matter if the economy isn’t cooking.
Combating inflation and reinvigorating the anemic Biden economy were the two most important issues to voters in 2024. Unfortunately, according to the most recent Reuters poll, only 29% of American approve of President Trump’s handling of the economy. And with the war with Iran continuing, some economists are expecting inflation to pick up, eventually reaching 4.2%!
In light of the terrible polling data for President Trump, this blog strongly suggests that the war with Iran be brought to an immediate close. Inflation killed the Biden presidency, and it will kill the second term of Trump’s presidency if this war isn’t ended quickly. The MAGA movement has made far too much progress this past year to turn over the levers of power to the Democrats. So let’s pray for wisdom for President Trump and his cabinet as they navigate these perilous times.
