Weekly Wisdom | The State of the Union

This past Tuesday, President Trump delivered the longest State of the Union address in history. During his historic 1-hour 47-minute speech, President Trump described his vision for broadly supported populist policies and took time to highlight some exceptional American patriots. President Trump also directly challenged the attending Democrats, whether it was their embrace of illegal aliens or their support of transgender policies. Crucially, President Trump provided congressional Republicans a roadmap to retain Congress in the upcoming 2026 elections.

Policies from the State of the Union to pass or campaign on:

  1. Currently being debated, the SAVE Act would require prospective voters to provide documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote or to update their registration. Simply put, this would help secure the integrity of all future elections. Considering the disillusionment among the current American voting population with their government, this would help restore badly needed credibility.

  2. Vice President JD Vance and Justice Department prosecutor Colin McDonald will work together to eliminate government fraud. The so-called “war on fraud” will be overseen by Vice President Vance and prosecuted by McDonald under the newly-proposed DOJ division, the National Fraud Enforcement Division. Prosecuting fraud perpetrated against the government is wildly popular.

  3. President Trump is calling on Congress to codify an executive order banning large-scale purchases of single-family homes by institutional investors. While housing affordability will require a plethora of good proposals, this is a populist policy supported by the American people. Congress should pass it.

  4. Congressional Republicans should remind voters that the sizable tax refunds citizens are beginning to see have been augmented by the Big, Beautiful Bill. Policies like no tax on tips and no tax on overtime significantly benefit President Trump’s working-class base of supporters.

  5. President Trump proposed the Delilah Law, which bans states from issuing commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. Named after a 7-year-old girl who was badly injured by an illegal immigrant truck driver, this policy is supported by voters in both parties.

President Trump’s epic State of the Union fired up the base by invoking patriotism and championing populist policies most Americans want. Since most polls show the Democrats retaking Congress, which would be a disaster for the Trump Administration and the American people, President Trump’s speech was critical to helping Republicans potentially retain Congress. Let’s hope President Trump aggressively hits the campaign trail this year, and that congressional Republicans will be bold in embracing and promoting President Trump’s excellent MAGA agenda.
