Weekly Wisdom | The Quiet Improvements

The Small But Good Accomplishments Worth Knowing

Understandably, anxiety is high across the American population as the recent bombings from Israel and America on Iran could cause chaos in the Middle East. While this blog finds that unlikely, some people are nervous and the polls seem to suggest it as well. But despite the despair of some, the Trump administration has quietly achieved many “small” victories in many diverse areas of government. Below, you will find some items and policy achievements that serve to improve the country that you may not be aware of.

Policies worth highlighting:

  1. It’s tax season, and the Treasury Department’s IRS modernization efforts are beginning to show: people who file online are receiving their tax refunds faster than ever before, with some people (the author included) receiving them within 2-3 business days.

  2. Joe Gebbia, a co-founder of Airbnb, was tasked with redesigning and further digitizing some federal government websites and services. As a result, the cleaner websites are easier to read, as well as being more navigable and user friendly. Smart, more efficient government is universally supported by both parties.

  3. A few months ago, the creation of the U.S. Tech Force was announced, which seeks to recruit around 1,000 highly-technical engineers to update federal IT infrastructure AND to integrate AI across government agencies. This initiative would help the government to operate more like the highly efficient tech companies of Silicon Valley.

  4. Since October of 2024, roughly 11% (327,000 jobs) of the federal workforce has either resigned or been fired. Due to the efforts of DOGE and aggressive cabinet secretaries, the Trump administration is targeting reductions in the federal government to reduce our federal deficit and to re-privatize our economy.

  5. In order to counter China and to maintain naval dominance, President Trump proposed the Golden Fleet this past December. This proposal includes building a total of 20-25 highly-advanced “Trump-class” battleships outfitted with hypersonic missiles, lasers, and even nuclear weapons. The first ships would start production in 2030.

  6. Construction has begun on the White House State Ballroom, a 90,000-square-foot ballroom where the East Wing once stood. Many state banquets are currently hosted outside the White House due to insufficient interior room. Also, the recently-announced “Independence Arch,” in celebration of America’s 250th birthday, is currently under review. If approved, this new architectural gem, located across the Lincoln Memorial on the bank of the Potomac River, would be taller than Paris’s Arc de Triomphe.

For many Americans, the cost of living remains too high. And President Trump’s nationalist-populist base still wants to see more deportations of illegal immigrants and to see Epstein’s clients prosecuted. This blog holds these beliefs, but ultimately trusts President Trump will deliver the outcomes we voted for. In the meantime, please consider all the “little things” that the Trump administration is accomplishing that will make this country better off.
